Four-Footed Fotos Devileye, ridden by Santo Sanjur, wins the Jim Edgar Illinois Futurity by 2 3/4 lengths.
Devileye made up a three-length deficit in the final furlong to remain unbeaten in three starts by winning Saturday’s $50,000 Jim Edgar Illinois Futurity at Hawthorne.
Shakurr, a 7-1 shot ridden by Edgar Perez, moved from second, a head behind 2-1 second choice Awesome Asher after six furlongs in 1:11.27, to take command by three lengths at the eighth pole of the 1 1/16-mile race. But Devileye surged along the rail with jockey Santo Sanjur and drew clear to win by 2 3/4 lengths. The winning time was 1:43.92.
Shakurr held second, 3 3/4 lengths clear of 33-1 longshot All Strikes.
Devileye, a son of Indygo Shiner, is trained by Michelle Boyce for owner-breeder S D Brilie LP.
