DeVaux doubles up in Churchill opener

LOUISVILLE, KY. – Cherie DeVaux and Churchill go together just swell. The 38-year-old New Yorker registered the only training double of the Saturday opener when sending out Dinar ($7.20) and Reagan’s Edge ($27) to win off-the-turf allowances.
DeVaux began a solo career in May 2018 after nearly eight years as an assistant to Chad Brown. Her only prior two-win day came on closing weekend of the 2019 Churchill fall meet. She had hoped to enjoy a productive winter when based at Payson Park, but her stable went 1 for 25 at Gulfstream Park.

“This winter had its challenges,” DeVaux wrote on her Twitter account, “but the persistence, hard work, and patience surely paid off.”
At Churchill, DeVaux has won with five of her last nine starters and seven of her last 16. In fact, her seven Churchill wins account for more than half of her 13 career wins.
