Destinationwnrscir tops Jack Betta Be Rite Stakes

The 3-year-old Destinationwnrscir remains in search of the Finger Lakes winner’s circle, as she takes on her elders in Monday’s $50,000 Jack Betta Be Rite Stakes, for New York-bred fillies and mares going 1 1/16 miles at the Farmington, N.Y. track.
Destinationwnrscir’s only win came in a one-mile maiden race in March at Aqueduct. She finished seventh in a turf allowance at Belmont when trying winners for the first time, then got back on dirt to finish third in an allowance there after ducking about in the stretch. The runner-up in that race came back to win.
In the New York Oaks at Finger Lakes on July 26, Destinationwnrscir finished a steady third, beaten five lengths by winner A Bit o’Irish Sass and a half-length for second by U Guys Are No Fun. Oscar Gomez, aboard her for the first time that day for trainer Charlton Baker, keeps the mount for Monday’s race.
In a field light in runners with stakes success, Holmdel Park and Tax Me Naught figure as the chief competition to Destinationwnrscir. Each won an allowance race at Finger Lakes going a mile and 70 yards last out. Holmdel Park earned a Beyer Speed Figure of 74, the top last-out number in this field. Tax Me Naught posted a 64, while Destinationwnrscir ran a 63 in the New York Oaks.
Mad for Fame, Fleeta Belle, and Social Mobility complete the field of six. Social Mobility earned a Beyer of 71, the field’s second-highest last-out figure, when she was third against males in a two-turn allowance at Finger Lakes on Aug. 3.
Presque Isle Downs
Also Monday, Presque Isle Downs cards the $75,000 Lady Erie for 3-year-olds sprinting six furlongs on the synthetic. The lightly raced Just One Time will be defending her home state against the more-seasoned shipper Esplanande.
Just One Time has won both her starts, taking her debut in May at Penn National and then winning the Malvern Rose Stakes by 4 1/4 lengths against Pennsylvania-breds in July at Presque Isle.
Esplanande, who is Ohio’s reigning horse of the year, finished second in the Grade 1 Spinaway last year at Saratoga. She has won three straight races, each against older Ohio-bred females. Esplanande makes her first start on synthetic in the Lady Erie.
Also in the field are open stakes winners Can’t Buy Love, Feeling Mischief, Lady Edith, and Prodigy Doll.
