Dennis' Moment will scratch Wednesday, make return Friday

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Dennis’ Moment, perhaps better known for his losses than his wins, is entered in the Wednesday feature, but trainer Dale Romans said the enigmatic colt will be scratched in favor of a Friday allowance in which only four others are entered.
Dennis’ Moment will be making his first start in nine months in the Friday race, an $89,000, second-level race at seven furlongs. The son of Tiznow was coming off flashy back-to-back victories when bet down to odds-on favoritism in the 2019 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile. He finished last of eight, then also finished last of 10 when favored again in his lone subsequent start, the Fountain of Youth at Gulfstream Park in late February.
“We all know he’s better than his last two,” Romans said. “I think you’ll see the real deal when he comes back.”

In the meantime, Dennis’ Moment will vacate post 1 in the only allowance here Wednesday, leaving no more than nine starters in an $89,000, one-mile race restricted to 3-year-olds. Violent City, a sharp last-out winner off the shelf for Ian Wilkes, is among the favorites who remain in the eighth of nine races.
