Delta Downs track report

Munificence, winner of both of his career starts in memorable fashion, makes his stakes debut against an evenly matched field in Friday night's $50,000 Triple Sec for 3-year-olds at Delta Downs.

The 6 1/2-furlong race will be run around two turns and has drawn a field of six, including the Eric Reed-trained entry of Mechanic, who exits the $41,000 Prevue at Turfway Park, and maiden winner Visionary.

Munificence held on for a head win in his career debut Oct. 7, when he dueled throughout a 6 1/2-furlong race at Lone Star Park. One start later, he made his two-turn debut in a seven-furlong allowance at Delta on Nov. 13 and drew out to a 6 1/4-length win.

Munificence shows a pair of bullet works in preparation for his 3-year-old debut, and will break from the rail under Steve Bourque. Munificence is a son of Allen's Prospect, and his dam, See Jane, is a sister to Proud Run, a stakes winner of $663,910. Munificence is trained by Jim Hudson.

Mechanic has a recency edge over Munificence, having last raced in the Prevue on Jan. 8. He set a hot pace in the mud in the 6 1/2-furlong race and finished third, but was later disqualified for interference and placed sixth. Dana Whitney, who was aboard Mechanic when he won his maiden at Mountaineer on Dec. 11, has the mount.

Others in the race include Camsdancer, the runner-up in the $40,000 Delta Beau, and Got Myself a Gun, whose ability to stalk in a field of front-runners could serve him well Friday.
