Delta Downs track report

Delta Downs has a lot of momentum going into the opening of its 57-night Quarter Horse meet on Friday. The track closed out one of the most successful Thoroughbred meets in its 30-year history last month, and will offer a record 34 stakes races worth more than $1.2 million for Quarter Horses this meet, which runs through Aug. 15.

Delta will run Friday through Sunday, with first post on Friday and Saturday at 6:45 p.m. Central and at 3 p.m. on Sundays.

The richest stakes are the $100,000 Delta Downs Louisiana-bred Derby on May 29 and the $100,000 Lee Berwick Futurity on June 26. The Grade 2, $75,000 Firecracker Futurity and the Grade 2, $50,000 Firecracker Derby will be held on July 4.
