She’s Prado’s Idol is the most accomplished horse Garland Goins has owned in 15 years in racing and on Friday night at Delta Downs she added to her resume when she picked up her fifth stakes win of the year in the $100,000 Magnolia. She’s Prado’s Idol closed for a one-length win over Pretty Not, while it was another half-length back in third to Harlie’s Dreams.

She’s Prado’s Idol ($5.60) raced in eighth early in the Magnolia, a one-mile race for Louisiana-bred fillies and mares, as Midge Four led through fractions of 22.86 for the opening quarter and 47.47 for the half-mile. She’s Prado’s Idol launched a five-wide bid around the turn and went on to cover the distance on a fast track in 1:40.81.

“I rode her with confidence,” said Tracy Hebert, who was aboard She’s Prado’s Idol. “When I asked her to run, she gave me everything she had. She’s a very nice filly.”

Goins, who also trains She’s Prado’s Idol, is a sales manager at a Shreveport, La., car dealership. He was a racing fan in his youth and now at 58 owns and trains a small stable based at River Point training center in Bossier City, La. He said She’s Prado’s Idol, a 3-year-old who defeated older rivals in the Magnolia, was a private purchase from breeder Evelyn Hobbs.

There is a chance She’s Prado’s Idol could run next in the $150,000 Treasure Chest on the Delta Downs Jackpot card Nov. 17. Goins said her winter goal has long been the $100,000 Louisiana Champions Day Ladies at Fair Grounds on Dec. 8.

She’s Prado’s Idol came into the Magnolia off a win in the $100,000 River Cities on the Super Derby undercard at Louisiana Downs. Earlier this year, she won three Louisiana-bred stakes. For her win Friday night, She’s Prado’s Idol earned $60,000 to improve her record to 8 for 12 with earnings of $335,320.
