Delta Downs: Ide Be Cool wins Pelican Stakes to stay perfect

Ide Be Cool remained undefeated from six career starts Saturday night, wiring the field in the $100,000 Pelican Stakes at Delta Downs. He won by two lengths over Kapenta, and it was another 2 1/4 lengths back to third-place finisher Sunken Road.
The Pelican, a 7 1/2-furlong race run around two turns, was restricted to 3-year-olds bred in Louisiana.
Ide Be Cool ($2.20) took the field through fractions of 23.52 seconds for the opening quarter, 48.29 for the half-mile, and 1:13.12 for six furlongs. He proceeded to cover the distance on a fast track in 1:33.96.
Chris Rosier was aboard the winner for owner and trainer Henry Ray Dunn.
The Pelican was the fourth consecutive stakes win for Ide Be Cool, a gelding by Ide bred by Gulf Haven Farms. Ide Be Cool’s other stakes wins came in the Louisiana Premier Night Prince, the Louisiana Legacy, and the Louisiana Champions Day Juvenile. He has earned $324,600.
