Delta Downs: Heavy On Themister to defend title on Premier Night

Heavy On Themister will defend his title in Saturday night’s $200,000 Premier Night Championship at Delta Downs, the main event on a card of six stakes for Louisiana-breds. Purses for the program top $1 million, making the card the second richest of the meet behind Delta Downs Jackpot Day.
Heavy On Themister, to be ridden by Diego Saenz, is part of a nine-horse field that includes Fair Grounds shippers Sunbean, winner of the $150,000 Louisiana Champions Day Classic, and Hud’s Rebellion, winner of the $100,000 Louisiana Champions Day Turf. Sunbean will be ridden by Richard Eramia and Hud’s Rebellion by Rosie Napravnik.
Ide Be Cool, undefeated in four starts, headlines the $125,000 Prince, a seven-furlong race for 3-year-olds to be run around two turns. Others of note on the card include Heitai, a starter in the $100,000 Sprint who has put up triple-digit Beyer Speed Figures in three of his last four starts, and Sittin At the Bar, a multiple stakes winner who goes in the $100,000 Matron.
The Louisiana Thoroughbred Breeders Association will give away two $1,000 college scholarships in a drawing to be held after the fifth race Saturday night at Delta.
