Prominent throughout, Fjr Bread N Butter held off a late charge from the favored Jls Go Big Daddy to win the $564,895 Lee Berwick Futurity at Delta Downs on Saturday night.

Only a neck separated the top two at the finish, and it was another neck back to Jess Good Lookin, who could not match strides with the winner in the late going after dueling with that foe early.

The final time for the 350-yard closing-night feature was 17.14 seconds over fast going. Fjr Bread N Butter ($17.20) is trained by Fructuoso Huitron and was ridden by Martin Rubalcava. The gelding by Heza Fast Dash won for the fourth time in five career starts. The winner’s share of $282,447 pushed his career earnings to $316,247.
