Welcome Dance and Seanchai raced one-two throughout Wednesday’s $50, 125 Walking in Da Sun Stakes for 3-year-old fillies and the order of finish never changed in the 1 1/16-mile turf race.
Welcome Dance ($6.60), allowed to set comfortable fractions of 49.34 seconds and 1:14.42, scored by 1 ½ lengths while completing the distance on a firm course in 1:44.91.
Seanchai, the slight 2-1 favorite, held off the large charge of Zucchini Flower by a neck for second.
Welcome Dance, trained by Michael Matz for owner Ramona Bass, is now 3 for 7 lifetime. In four previous stakes tries, her best finish was a third in the $184,000 Edgewood at Churchill Downs.
