Delaware postpones stakes-filled card to next Saturday

Delaware Park announced it will cancel its Saturday card, headlined by the Grade 3 Delaware Handicap, because of an incoming Nor’easter, which is expected to batter the East Coast with heavy rain and high winds all weekend.

The 10-race Saturday card, which also includes the $200,000 Battery Park and two $150,000 stakes for juveniles, will be moved in its entirety to next Saturday, Oct. 3.

According to the National Weather Service, coastal flood warnings have already been issued along the East Coast in the coming days. The Nor’easter is expected to strengthen in the Mid-Atlantic and New York Friday into Saturday before weakening as it approaches New England on Monday.
