RACE 6: BARBADIAN RUNNER wasn’t badly beaten in the three-turn Charles Town Classic against a deeper field than he meets in this Battery Park Stakes, and though there are a couple of capable rivals in here, his inside post and positional speed should give him an edge on those runners. He is obviously in sharp form going back to last year, having run first or second in his 12 starts prior to his latest, complete with steady and strong Beyers. (1)
RACE 7: Using them all in the Rocky Run Stakes, a two-turn race for juveniles. The race is unsurprisingly tough to plot in terms of race flow and it’s competitive. While it may be possible to leave off a runner or two at most, it seems wise to wrap the race up and hope we get one of the longer prices home. (8)
RACE 8: LIFE CHANGING was an impressive winner in her career debut, and though the Spinaway was obviously a debacle she was not helped by a slow start that forced her to try to rate off the pace, clearly something she didn’t succeed at. She can be expected to be pushed to make the lead in this White Clay Creek Stakes and could well be quickest of them all out of the gate. She is very dangerous if allowed to get away with an unpressured lead. (1)
RACE 9: LENDALFOOT had trouble in the early stages of her latest, and she then moved prematurely to contend for the lead before weakening in the late stages. She won her prior pair in impressive fashion and figures to be very well set up in her local debut for trainer Keri Brion, who is clicking at 28 percent at the meet. GOOD GOLLY MSFOLLY rallied nicely to miss by just a half-length in her last one over a soft course. She’s another who figures to benefit from a lively pace up front. CAPRICHOSAINFRONT was off the board in her last try, but that wasn’t a bad effort at all as she was trying to close into some slow splits and was moving well late. (3)
RACE 10: NERAZURRI was a game winner over some of these same runners three back at Thistledown at this same distance, and though she could only manage third in each of her last two, she faced some tough customers in the Grade 2 Molly Pitcher and Grade 1 Personal Ensign. The Beyers she posted in those last three were among the best recent figures in this field, and her ability to get position is a big plus in this Delaware Handicap, which lacks a clear-cut pace scenario. (1)
