Delaware Park cancels card after first race due to heavy rain
Delaware Park canceled racing after the first race on Thursday due to heavy rain, which persisted through the morning and early afternoon and made it impossible to proceed.
At approximately 9:00 a.m., track officials were planning to proceed with racing on the turf, but the rain carried on and all surface conditions were soon downgraded. The decision was later made to move one of the turf races to the dirt, then all turf races, before the entire card was officially called off approximately 45 minutes after the first race was completed.
Delaware had to cancel racing on Thursday and Friday last week due to extreme heat in the region.
