House Party, shipping in for trainer Allen Jerkens from New York, inched up two wide leaving the turn, caught pacesetter Home run Hitter entering the stretch, and roared off to an 8 1/2-length victory in the $75,000 Legal Light. Lady Echo rallied from fourth at the half to be second, three-quarters of a length ahead of Valley of the Gods. Ridden by Joe Rocco, Jr., House Party ran the six furlongs in 1:10.29 and paid $5.40.
