Delaware: Highway Prospector gets up
Highway Prospector, the third choice in a field of five, used a strong, well-timed late kick to win the six-furlong, $100,000 Vincent Moscareli Memorial Handicap at Delaware Park.
Unhurried early under Abel Castellano Jr., Highway Prospector moved from second-last into contention after three furlongs, was fanned four wide entering the stretch, then blew by the leaders to win by 1 1/4 lengths.
Don Six, the 7-5 favorite, chased Sing Me Back Home for a half, went by him in deep stretch, but failed to hold off the winner and finished second.
Highway Prospector was timed in 1:09.97 over a fast track and paid $7.
