Delaware County Fair: World record equaled in Ohio Breeders Championships

A total of eight Ohio Breeders Championships for 2-year-old male pacers, sophomore colt and gelding pacers and trotters, and 3-year-old pacing fillies, occurred on the undercard of the Little Brown Jug on Thursday at the Delaware County Fair.
Two-Year-Old C&G Pacers
Rose Run Zane (Austin Hanners won the second $75,000 section in 1:51 1/5 to match the world record for a 2-year-old gelding pacer on a half-mile track. He cut fractions of 27 1/5, 55 1/5 and 1:23 while parking out Paris's Dragon (Dan Noble) to the half, then fended off pocket-sitter Fear The Image (Tyler Smith) in the lane to win by half a length. Janelle Granny (Brett Miller) took charge past the 26 3/5 quarter back in the first clash and held sway from there for a 1:52 2/5 tally.
Dan Venier conditions Rose Run Zane, by Racing Hill, for owners John and Leann Saunders. The Rose Run Farm-bred has won half of his six appearances to go with $90,200 in earnings. He paid $6.60 to win. Betty Clegg-owned-and-trained Janelle Granny, a What The Hill colt, improved his summary to 6-8-1 from 15 trips behind the gate and boosted his take to $229,037. He returned $2.60 to win.
Three-Year-Old Filly Pacers
Somwherunderheavn (Tony Hall, 1:51 4/5) and McSeaside (Chris Page, 1:51 4/5) took the $63,500 tilts for this group. Somwherunderheavn was two-wide until after the half in 54 seconds, but once she got to the front, she stayed clear, winning by 2 1/4 lengths. Meanwhile, McSeaside went to the top from post two and tallied by 2 1/2 lengths after she carved out panels of 28, 56 1/5 and 1:23 4/5.
Steve Carter trains Somwherunderheavn, by Nob Hill High, for the ownership group of Jeff Fought Racing, Brian Carsey, Adam Friedland and Peggy Carter. She has six lifetime triumphs, has socked away $118,765 and paid $29.80 to win as a 13-1 shot. A daughter of Downbytheseaside, McSeaside is trained by Ron Burke for owners Burke Racing Stable LLC., Beasty LLC., J&T Silva Stables, LLC., and Knox Services Inc. McSeaside has nine wins, four seconds, and a third from 24 starts, has now put $504,164 in the bank and returned $3.00 to win as the 1-2 favorite.

Three-Year-Old C&G Pacers
Rockmelikeyameanit (Dan Noble) and Racing Rampage (Brett Miller) won their respective $61,500 flights. Rockmelikeyameanit led through fractions of 27 4/5, 57 3/5 and 1:25 2/5 on his way to a 1:52 2/5 win while Racing Rampage tallied in 1:51 after he put up a 27 2/5 quarter, 55 4/5 half and 1:23 1/5 three-quarters.
A gelded son of McArdle, Rockmelikeyameanit is trained by Christi Noble for owners Dennis Owens, Norman Rae Racing and James Morris. He is a six-time winner, has pocketed $419,028 and returned $5.40 to win. Racing Rampage is a Racing Hill gelding owned by trainer Darren Dowler in partnership with Lawrence Bettler. He made his sixth appearance in the winner's circle, has earned $314,582 and paid $4.60 to win.
Three-Year-Old C&G Trotters
Public choices Jet Hill (Ronnie Wrenn Jr.) and John Dutton (Chris Page) tallied in 1:53 2/5 and 1:55 in their $59,000 splits. Ed Miller trains Jet Hill, a What The Hill gelding, for owner Serenity Racing Stables. Jet Hill has a record of 10-5-1, has put away $450,275 and paid $2.40 to win. A gelded son of What The Hill, John Dutton is trained by Ron Burke for owners Burke Racing Stable LLC., Knox Services Inc., Johnny Yoder and Ras Racing LLC.
