Delaware County Fair: Standardbred victories for Tru Lou, Worthy Of Honor

Greg Reinhart|Sep 19, 2019
Tru Lou 9/19/19
Derick Giwner Tru Lou got the first stakes win of his career on Thursday morning

Tru Lou and Worthy Of Honor began Little Brown Jug Day for 2019 with wins in the first two stakes events on card, the $48,100 Standardbred for 2-year-old male pacers and the $47,100 Standardbred for rookie colt and gelding trotters.

In the dash for the pacers, favored Complete Kaos (Yannick Gingras) shot through from the pole position to take the field of five to a 28 1/5 opening quarter and a 57 3/5 half, but Tru Lou (Matt Kakaley) came with a rush out of third past the half that carried him into the lead at the 1:26 2/5 three-quarters. Tru Lou pulled away from there, registering a 5 1/2 length win and stopping the clock in 1:55 2/5. Complete Kaos held second, giving trainer Ron Burke a 1-2 finish, and Caviart Revere (David Miller) finished third.

Burke trains Tru Lou, a Sweet Lou-Real Touch gelding, for breeders/co-owners Knox Services Inc. and Slaughter Racing Stb LLC. and co-owners Burke Racing Stable LLC. and Weaver Bruscemi LLC. Tru Lou has a pair of wins from seven starts and has now earned $32,950. He paid $6.80 to win as the 2-1 second choice.

Worthy Of Honor (Andy Miller) got to the front from post five in the Standardbred trot and hit the first quarter in 28 2/5 and the half in 58 seconds. Public choice Emma Town Bud (Ronnie Wrenn Jr.) popped out of the pocket on the way to three-quarters, but he made a break going to the 1:27 three-quarters, putting Worthy Of Honor back on a clear lead. Moveoutofmyway K (Mike Wilder) then challenged Worthy Of Honor from first-up around the last turn and in the lane, but Worthy Of Honor held off that bid as well, winning by a length in 1:56 4/5. Altus Hanover (D. Miller) followed the cover of Moveoutofmyway K and wound up third.

A Cantab Hall-Honorable Daughter colt, Worthy Of Honor is trained by Julie Miller for the ownership group of Andy Miller Stable Inc., Jean Goehlen, and Lou Willinger. Worthy Of Honor, bred by Carter Duer, has a record of 2-2-2 from nine attempts, and he pushed his bankroll to $58,849. Also sent off as a 2-1 second choice, Worthy Of Honor returned $6.60 to win.
