Delaware County Fair: Scarlett Hanover leaves rivals seeing red in Jugette

Scarlett Hanover knocked off favored Test Of Faith in the $152,280 Jugette final for sophomore pacing fillies on Wednesday afternoon at the Delaware County Fair, prevailing in 1:56 over the sloppy half-mile oval.
The final was set by two eliminations that went to Ron Burke-trained Scarlett Hanover and Tim Tetrick from first-over in 1:56 and Brett Pelling trainee Test Of Faith and David Miller from second-over in 1:55 3/5. Test Of Faith drew the pole position in the final and sent off at 2-5, and Scarlett Hanover was the 5-2 second choice from post two.
It would be Paulas Bet Hanover (Yannick Gingras) who set the tempo in the final, clicking off panels of 29, 58 4/5, and 1:28 after charging to the top from post five. Test Of Faith began a first-over move before the half that carried her into second before three-quarters, and Scarlett Hanover was hot on her heels in the second-over position.
Late on the far turn Test Of Faith forged her way around Paulas Bet Hanover and set sail for home, but Tetrick had already tipped three-deep with Scarlett Hanover. Test Of Faith had the jump, but it wasn't enough, as Scarlett Hanover was able to kick by her late in the mile on her way to the win by about half a length. Oakwoodanabella Ir (Ronnie Wrenn Jr.) was third, Paulas Bet Hanover held fourth, and Nashville Elgenna (Andrew McCarthy) got fifth from post eight.

"Earlier in the week Ronnie asked me if I wanted to drive her. She's a sweetheart, just like he said she was," said Tetrick. "She showed up really good in both heats, and we got a good trip in the final.
"The last half of the card, the front-end hasn't been very good at all. I wanted to get away back, and I was hoping one or two would take a shot. It worked out perfect. I got Dave in front of me in third, and I kind of forced his issue a little bit when they started to come. I wanted his filly out to be there, even if they didn't go fast, I wanted her just to work a little bit. I went after him at the top of the lane, and my filly got it done.
