?q=100)
The two-year-old filly trotter Demonic Niko (Dan Noble) has proved to be the queen of the 2-year-old trotting filly division in the Buckeye State, and Monday (Sept. 15) was no different when the filly rallied for a victory in the $144,040 (div.) Ohio Breeders Championship at the Delaware County Fair.
Speedbewithyou (Austin Hanners) controlled the early fractions and the field of eight until mid-stretch. Seven Lick Range (Tyler Smith) also rallied in the stretch, but came up a neck short. Speedbewithyou held on for third. The final time was 1:56 2/5.
Demonic Niko, an In Range filly who was purchased as a yearling for $95,000, is trained by Erv Miller, who co-owns with Anthony Lombardi and Douglas Overhiser. The win was Demonic Niko's seventh in nine seasonal starts and pushes her earnings to $241,260.
The first $72,250 split had a pair of fillies, Rose Rum Brooke (Ronnie Wrenn Jr.) and Joyofmylife As (Dan Noble), exchange the lead a couple of times in the first three-quarters of the race. Joyofmylife As make a break in stride in the final turn, and Rose Run Brooke took advantage to score a 1 1/4 length win over Sarah's Mission (Chris Page) in 1:56. Range The Wind (Aaron Merriman) was seven lengths behind the winner.
The victorious In Range filly is conditioned by Vernon Beachy for the First Up Racing Stable. The final time was a new lifetime mark for Rose Run Brooke.

Stakes Record Falls in Ohio Breeders Sophomore Filly Trot
In The End (Dan Noble) used a pocket trip and some late daylight to score by three-quarters of a length in the second division of the Ohio Breeders Championship for sophomore filly trotters.
Jailhouse Pearl (Austin Hanners) came from post five and grabbed the lead shortly after the starting gate wings folded and set fractions of 27 4/5, 56 3/5 and 1:24 4/5. The eventual winner found room late in the lane and defeated Jailhouse Pearl and Dream Something (Tyler Smith). The final lime of 1:53 4/5 shaved a fifth of a second off the pervious stakes record.
Annette Lorentzon is the owner/trainer/breeder of the winning Lionhunter lass.
Mocha Hill (Ronnie Wrenn Jr.) scored a mild upset at 8-1 with her gate-to-wire win the first $58,670 division. The What The Hill filly scored a one length victory over Pelican Hanover (Tyler Smith) and Mega Money (Aaron Merriman) in 1:55. The winner is trained by Ron Burke for Burke Racing Stable, Hatfield Stables, Weaver Bruscemi & Knox Services.
Tuesday’s 15-race card is scheduled to kick off at 1:00 P.M. (EDT).
