Delaware County Fair: Looking For Zelda takes Buckette

Ohio-sired Looking For Zelda skipped out on facing Buckeye State competition during Jug Week in favor of the $82,200 Buckette for open 3-year-old filly trotters on Wednesday afternoon at the Delaware County Fair, and that move paid off as she won the race in 1:54 4/5.
Driven by Matt Kakaley, Looking For Zelda took the field to the opening quarter in 28 seconds, then left favored Bella Glos (Yannick Gingras) out to almost the 55 3/5 half before releasing her to the point. Bella Glos would go on to reach three-quarters in 1:24 3/5, but then she jumped it off early on the last turn, leaving Looking For Zelda in the lead on the inside with Kenziesky Hanover (David Miller) pressing her from first-up.
Looking For Zelda and Kenziesky Hanover battled stride-for-stride through the lane, but Looking For Zelda proved the better filly on this day late in the going as she put away her outside challenger to win by half a length in 1:54 4/5. Pinecraft Nellie (Ronnie Wrenn Jr.) finished well back in the third position.
Norm Parker trains Looking For Zelda, a daughter of Break The Bank K, for owner/breeder Robert Key. This was her 12th career victory, she boosted her earnings to $395,794, and she paid $8.60 to win as the 3-1 fourth choice.
