Dreamboat Hanover came up just a fifth of a second shy of the world record for a 2-year-old gelding pacer on a half-mile track in winning the $47,000 Standardbred on Thursday afternoon at the Delaware (Ohio) County Fair in 1:51 2/5. Arrowhead Hanover was victorious in the companion $50,000 tilt for trotters.
With Andy Miller in tow, Dreamboat Hanover worked out a pocket trip behind Railroad Station (David Miller), who ripped off fast fractions of 26, 53 3/5 and 1:22. Miller swung Dreamboat Hanover to the outside just before three-quarters, and after a short battle, he went by Railroad Station on the final bend and crossed back down to the pylons. From there, it was Dreamboat Hanover against the teletimer as he went on to prevail by 4 1/4 lengths over Fasting (Jeremy Indof) while Waitingforguffman (Ronnie Wrenn Jr.) collected third.
"I got lucky with this one. This colt is just a really special colt for Todd (co-owner/trainer Todd Schadel). It's always great to come to Delaware," Miller said after the victory.
By Papi Rob Hanover, Dreamboat Hanover was bred by Hanover Shoe Farms and is owned by Todd Schadel in partnership with Christine Schadel, Timothy Hayes and Dr. Megan Moschgat. He has a record of 4-1-1 from eight starts, has earned $112,773 and paid $5.60 to win.

In the event for trotters, Lefties Righties (Scott Zeron) hit the quarter in 28 1/5 and the half in 57 4/5 but was joined on the outside at the 1:26 4/5 three-quarters by Arrowhead Hanover (Anthony MacDonald), who went first-up from the three-hole on the third turn. Arrowhead Hanover sustained his bid to take charge for good on the final bend and scored by a length and a half over pocket-sitter Abraham Hanover (Mike Wilder). Lefties Righties had to settle for third.
"He was super. Not the rail we wanted to win from, but it's a great feeling," remarked MacDonald. Arrowhead Hanover won after starting from post one, which was the same draw stablemate Timeisonmyside landed in one of today's Little Brown Jug eliminations. Unfortunately for the connections, Timeisonmyside came up sick and had to be scratched.
Owned by Thestable Arrowheadhanovr and bred by Hanover Shoe Farms, Arrowhead Hanover is trained by Tim Twaddle. He has three wins, a second and three thirds from nine appearances, has pocketed $82,170 and returned $3.80 to win as the favorite.
