Delaware County Fair: Guinevere Hall stays undefeated this year

One day after Summer Touch finished off an Ohio Triple Crown by winning in the Ohio Breeders Championship at the Delaware County Fair, Guinevere Hall did the same thing on Monday, taking her $46,920 OBC for sophomore trotting fillies in 1:54 1/5. This also kept Guinevere Hall's perfect record in 2020 intact, as she is now eight-for-eight.
Driven by Peter Wrenn, Guinevere Hall got away in the fourth spot and came out first-over before the 56 3/5 half. After being sent two-wide, Guinevere Hall marched up methodically on the rim towards leader Delovely Hall (Aaron Merriman), getting into second at the 1:24 3/5 three-quarters and then overtaking the tempo-setter on the last turn. From there, Guinevere Hall pulled clear on her way to a 2 3/4 length decision over Tootie (Brett Miller). Delovely Hall hung on for third.
Melanie Wrenn trains Guinevere Hall, a daughter of Cash Hall, for owners M T Pockets Stables and David McDuffee. She has a record of 11-3-2 from 18 career appearances, and she has now earned $438,541. She paid $2.10 across the board as the 1-9 favorite.
There was another $46,920 OBC split for sophomore trotting fillies on the card back in race five, and that one was won by Lima Gold (Dan Noble) in a 10-1 upset.
1-5 choice A Fancy Face (Chris Page) took control after the 28 2/5 opening quarter and would go on to front the group to the half in 58 4/5 and the three-quarters in 1:28, with Lima Gold working out a second-over trip behind Bange Bi (Tyler Smith). Noble sent his filly three-wide on the last turn, and she finished with a flourish in the lane, charging past A Fancy Face in the closing strides to tally by half a length in 1:56 2/5. Robin Banks (Kurt Sugg) checked in third.
Lima Gold is a daughter of Coraggioso trained by Chris Beaver for owner Spaaaartners. One of the members of that group is former Meadowlands track announcer Tom Durkin, who would go on to be the long-time voice of the New York Racing Association and the Triple Crown on the Thoroughbred side of the sport. Lima Gold picked up her first win of the season, her third lifetime victory, and pushed her career bankroll to $156,022. She returned $22.00 to win as the second-longest shot on the board.
