The $81,400 Buckette for 3-year-old trotting fillies was the first Grand Circuit event on Thursday's Little Brown Jug undercard at the Delaware (Ohio) County Fairgrounds, and Divine Thing turned a pocket trip into a 1:53 2/5 win for driver Todd McCarthy and trainer Steve Carter. Country Victory (David Miller) would cut fractions of 27 4/5, 56 1/5 and 1:24 4/5 while Divine Thing waited in the two-hole. On the final bend McCarthy guided Divine Thing off the pylons, and after a brief battle, Divine Thing went by Country Victory and on to the win by a length and a quarter. Santa Cristina (Scott Zeron) was third, followed Devious Babe (Andy Miller) and breakers Nikki Strikes (Andy McCarthy) and Murial (Dexter Dunn). "It kind of worked out. She's right back to form right now," McCarthy said in the winner's circle. "Steve's done a great job with her and that was just a perfect trip for there today." ► Sign up for our FREE DRF Harness Digest Newsletter A daughter of Greenshoe bred by Crawford Farms, Divine Thing is owned by Jay Mossbarger, Brent Hopper and Kyle Gray.
