Delaware: Big rally for Gotta Rush

Gotta Rush ($13.80) ran down pacesetter Ebony Star in the stretch and scored a three-quarter-length victory over Redaspen in the $50,000 Polly's Jet at Delaware Park.

Ridden by Heberto Castillo Jr., Gotta Rush sat in sixth position early, as Ebony Breeze grabbed the lead and set fractions of 25.25 seconds, 49.47, and 1:14.05. On the far turn, Gotta Rush moved outside rivals and then rallied past Ebony Breeze before holding off a late charge on the inside by Redaspen. Ebony Breeze finished another 1 3/4 lengths back in third.

The winning time for one mile on dirt was 1:39.86.

A 3-year-old filly trained by Lloyd Palmer, Gotta Rush scored her first stakes victory and has now won 3 of 11 starts. The victory Saturday was her first since November 2004.
