Austin Delaney, New York-based owner of millionaire and five-time Yaddo Stakes winner Irish Linnet and a number of other good runners, died of cancer on May 15, according to the New York Times. He was 70. An Irish native, Delaney owned several popular taverns and eateries in Manhattan, including the Rosie O'Grady's pubs and the Harbour Lights Restaurant. His homebred Irish Linnet won 13 stakes, including three graded races. Another homebred, Irish Actress, also won the Yaddo and two other stakes for earnings of $571,525.
