SPOT PLAYS/LIVE LONGSHOTS

Del Mar Race 4, (6:40 ET)

In a competitive $8k claimer, longshot BEV N BUD (#5, 15-1 pre-scratch line) is worth a flyer. He drops in class for his second start back, ran well twice on Polytrack last summer, and continues to post fast workout times. - Brad Free

Del Mar Race 4 (6:40 ET)

BLAKE (#8, 9-2) has proven a consistent performer in low-end claimers, recording two wins and a close fifth in three starts for this $8,000 claiming tag. A horse with tactical speed, he should have no trouble stretching out in distance to seven furlongs, having won as far as 1 1/16 miles. - Byron King

Del Mar Race 6 (7:40 ET)

PLAZA DE INDIAS (#6, 8-1) came back after a few months off with 2 fine outings. She's been freshened again and while she faces another tough bunch that helps your price. She's worked well for sharp trainer Miller. - Michael Hammersly

Del Mar Race 7 (8:10 ET)

CORPORATE JUNGLE (#5, 3-1) As soon as T. Proctor knew he was scratching this guy from the 6/29 Firecracker at CD, he said he would point to the Wickerr at Dmr. Well, here he is, 2 works later, and ready to pounce on what figures to be a swift pace. Bejarano and the nice post help the cause. –Marty McGee

Del Mar Race 7 (8:10 ET)

Been waiting to back FLOATING FEATHER (#4, 8-1) at a price, first off the claim by Jeff Mullins from a low-percent outfit. ’FEATHER won twice on this track last summer and is listed at a juicy 8-1 on the pre-scratch morning line. -Brad Free

VULNERABLE FAVORITES

Del Mar Race 8 (8:40 ET)

TUCKERS POINT (#11, 2-1) is the favorite by default in the nightcap, having just run second at this class level and facing a shaky field of maiden claimers. The problem is that he is 0-for-14 and has already lost three times as the chalk; can't trust him. - Byron King

Del Mar Race 8 (8:40 ET)

TUCKERS POINT (#11, 2-1) just missed in a similar spot at BHP as the 2-1 favorite and that will attract plenty of support. However, he's 0-for-14 so despite a bunch of close calls he's yet to get over the hump so you are taking a short price for try No. 15; seems risky. - Michael Hammersly
