Del Mar Race 4, 8:30 (ET)

HARD BUNS (#6, 3-1) drops back in for a life’s-low claiming tag and moving turf-to-synth seems a move of slight desperation, and she’ll be no value when attracting Bejarano. Just seems to go through the motions. Worth trying something else. – Marty McGee

Del Mar Race 2, (7:30 ET)

SPACE RUNNER (#6, 5-2) invades from NoCal off 4 strong races, 3 of those on GG’s synthetic track. He beat elders for $8K June 30, was claimed by Belvoir (22% off a claim), is encouragingly doubled in value, faces 3yos only, gets Bejarano for the trip south and boasts a strong 3f work here July 13 (3fs in :36.40). -Michael Hammersly

Can’t see getting as much as 4-1 m/l on NANEWAL (#2, 4-1) but care has been taken for big-stage class drop. Prep at GG. Work over track. Won here last meet. - Marcus Hersh

Del Mar Race 3 (8:00 ET)

Comebacker MY SLEW (#4, 6-1) returns for a stable already off to a big start. While it is uncertain if turf is preferred, the gelding is working like he will fire first back.-Brad Free

Second-start maidens trained by Darrell Vienna are always worth a longshot look. FATA MORGANA (#9, 10-1) drops to maiden-20 after facing much tougher.-Brad Free

Del Mar Race 4 (8:30 ET)

TAFFETA DISASTER (#10, 8-1) ran her best race (3rd) sans blinkers. After 2 so-so outings the blinkers come off for Miller who’s off to a terrific start this meet (won with 2 of first 5 starters, 40%). Also very nice to see Talamo keep the call. Could bounce back at a nice price against suspect competition. -Michael Hammersly

THUNDER BONNET (#11, 6-1) Load-and-go outside draw could prove beneficial for a speed-bred filly whose HollyPark works might be better than they seem at first glance. Trainer has shown himself quite handy with such firsters and in other relevant categories, and alluring Maldonado suggests this Cal-bred will be live here. Solid backing not to be unexpected. – Marty McGee

Del Mar Race 5 (9:00 ET)^th

BETH’S MY BABE (#8, 6-1) – showed little first out, but came back with a bullet work at Dmr; blinkers and Bejarano on; expect improvement. –Byron King

Del Mar Race 6 (9:30 ET)

The odds are out of whack on ROOKIE SENSATION (#10, 15-1), whose maiden win was highly rated. From the outside post on turf, he is a play at 6-1 or higher. -Brad Free

This $40K maiden-claimer looks like nice spot to perhaps take a little edge with 1^st-time-starting homebred BUSINESS SECTION (#10, 8-1). The bug boy & excellent debut trainer have clicked w/ limited sample. - Marcus Hersh
