Benoit & Associates Reneesgotzip and jockey Garrett Gomez win the Grade 3 Rancho Bernardo Handicap by 4 1/4 lengths Sunday at Del Mar and set a track record for 6 1/2 furlongs at 1:14.48.

DEL MAR, Calif. – Reneesgotzip made a track record look easy with a cozy win in Sunday’s $150,000 Rancho Bernardo Handicap for fillies and mares at Del Mar.

Ridden by a confident Garrett Gomez, Reneesgotzip led throughout the Grade 3 Rancho Bernardo, running 6 1/2 furlongs in a track-record time of 1:14.48. The previous mark of 1:14.93 was set by Carlsbad in the 2009 Rancho Bernardo.

Reneesgotzip ($2.60) set a quick pace of 22.43 and 44.46 seconds through the first half-mile of the Rancho Bernardo, leading by 2 1/2 lengths over Sweet Marini. She extended the margin to four lengths in the stretch, clearing six furlongs in 1:08.18, and won by 4 1/4 lengths over Winding Way.

“She loves this racetrack,” trainer Peter Miller said. “I wish the Breeders’ Cup was here. She’s an awesome filly, and she’s fast.”

Winding Way, the winner of the 2012 Rancho Bernardo, finished 3 3/4 lengths in front Sweet Marini, who was followed by Sugarinthemorning and Curvy Cat.

Reneesgotzip won her second race of the meeting in the Rancho Bernardo, having won an allowance race over six furlongs July 18.

Reneesgotzip, a 4-year-old filly by City Zip, won her fourth stakes Sunday. She won the Grade 2 Santa Ynez Stakes in 2012 and was third against males in the Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint last November. Owned by Debbie Lanni, Reneesgotzip has won 7 of 12 starts and $655,460.

Miller said Reneesgotzip will not start again until the Breeders’ Cup at Santa Anita on Nov. 1-2, when the race options will include the Filly and Mare Sprint and two races against males, the Sprint and the Turf Sprint.
