This fascinating renewal of the 12-furlong Cougar II seems made-to-order for incremental horizontal plays that go against the tepid favorites, those being Kettle Corn, Sky Kingdom, and Richard’s Kid. On the outside of the pack are two who might well relish the added distance, Rousing Sermon (#10) and Blueskiesnrainbows (#11), both of whom have the requisite class to prevail at this level. Others worth using as viable price plays are circuit newcomer Grandstand (#8) and winner off-the-claim Golden Itiz (#9), along with a sleeper pair drawn toward the rail, Lime Rickey (#2) and Oilisblackgold (#3). Obviously the aim is to beat the favorites and catch a nice number as the Friday twilight card winds to a close.
