Del Mar: Jaycito to have throat surgery

DEL Mar, Calif. - The graded stakes winner Jaycito will undergo throat surgery in coming weeks after finishing fifth in an optional claimer at Del Mar on Saturday, his first start since March.
“He’ll go in for tie-back surgery,” Baffert said. The procedure will correct a breathing disorder.
Owned by Zayat Stables, Jaycito has one win in six starts, the Grade 1 Norfolk Stakes at Hollywood Park last year, when he was trained by Mike Mitchell. Since joining Baffert’s stable last winter, Jaycito has made two starts. He finished second in the Grade 2 San Felipe Stakes at Santa Anita in March, but missed the Santa Anita and Kentucky Derbies because of foot problems.
