Del Mar jackpot reaches $258,780, mandatory payout Saturday
DEL MAR, Calif. - There is a carryover of $258,780 in the pick six at Del Mar on Saturday, a day with a mandatory payout.
The pool of new money could surpass $1.3 million on a program with built-in interest. Arrogate, the world’s leading racehorse, will be favored in the $1 million Pacific Classic, which will be part of the pick six.
The pool must be distributed on Saturday, even if no one correctly selects all six winners.
The pick six covers the sixth through 11th races on a program that begins at 2 p.m., Pacific.
The sequence includes a maiden race for 2-year-old fillies, the Grade 2 Del Mar Handicap at 1 3-8 miles on turf, the Pacific Classic, an optional claimer at six furlongs, the Grade 1 Del Mar Oaks and a maiden race for California-bred fillies and mares at six furlongs.
Friday’s pick six began with two carryovers - $252,572 in the main pool and $136,518 in the single ticket jackpot pool. Bettors added $1,067,989 on Friday.
Friday’s pick six paid $60,613 to 14 winning ticketholers. Consolation tickets with five winners paid $238.80.
The winners of Friday pick six races were An Unusual Group ($8.40), Minstersdontparty ($32), Start a Runnin ($20), Fight Thru ($6.20), Tribalist ($12.60), Make It a Triple ($3.20).
