Declaration of War leads Coolmore’s advertised fees; Galileo private

DRF Breeding Staff|Nov 11, 2013

Multiple Group 1 winner Declaration of War will stand for 40,000 Euros (about $53,642) and classic winner Camelot will stand for 25,000 Euros ($33,525) as they begin their stud careers at Coolmore Stud’s headquarters in Fethard, Co. Tipperary, Ireland.

Declaration of War, by War Front, and Camelot, by Montjeu, are two of three new sires on the Coolmore roster for 2014, along with Most Improved (6,000 Euros, or $8,046). Declaration of War’s fee makes him the most expensive stallion advertised on the roster. The fees for international juggernauts Galileo and Fastnet Rock are both listed as private.

Declaration of War won the Queen Anne Stakes and Juddmonte International Stakes in 2013 to establish himself among the top runners in Europe. He concluded his career with a third-place effort in the Breeders’ Cup Classic Nov. 2 at Santa Anita Park.

A Group 1 winner as a juvenile, Camelot captured the English 2000 Guineas, Epsom Derby, and Irish Derby in 2012. He finished second in the English St. Leger in his attempt to become the first English Triple Crown winner since 1970.

Coolmore’s roster also includes Mastercraftsman at 35,000 Euros ($46,935); High Chaparral at 30,000 Euros ($40,230); Danehill Dancer and Henrythenavigator at 25,000 Euros ($33,525); Excelebration, Holy Roman Emperor, and Rip Van Winkle at 20,000 Euros ($26,819); So You Think at 15,000 Euros ($20,115); Canford Cliffs, Chosir, Pour Moi, and Rock of Gibraltar at 12,500 Euros each ($16,762); Duke of Marmalade, Dylan Thomas, Footstepsinthesand, Peintre Celebre, and Power at 10,000 Euros ($13,410); Zoffany at 7,500 Euros ($10,057); Yeats at 6,000 Euros ($8,045); and Alfred Nobel, Requinto, and Thewayyouare at 4,000 Euros ($5,364).
