Decision time coming for Majestic Affair

OZONE PARK, N.Y. – Majestic Affair won his second straight sprint stakes on Thursday, galloping to a 5 3/4-length victory in the Frank Whiteley Jr. Stakes at Laurel Park. His margin of victory was the same as it was in the Fred “Cappy” Capossela Stakes at Aqueduct in January.
Trainer Chad Brown said he plans to keep Majestic Affair training in New York for the time being but was not sure if he would keep him sprinting or try to stretch him out in distance. The $100,000 Miracle Wood Stakes is a one-turn mile at Laurel on Feb. 16, but that race might come too soon for Majestic Affair.
Other options include the $100,000 Jimmy Winkfield, a six-furlong race at Aqueduct on Feb. 28, or Brown could freshen him up and point to the Grade 3, $300,000 Bay Shore Stakes at Aqueduct on April 4.
