HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. – Bill Mott reports that Thunderously, one of his top 3-year-old prospects, will be sidelined indefinitely due to an undisclosed issue. Thunderously was an instant sensation here earlier this winter when capturing his career debut by five lengths going 1 1/16 miles, earning an 88 Beyer Speed Figure for the effort. “He’s going to be out for a while, at this point I’m not sure just for how long,” Mott said. “The Triple Crown was going to be a rush anyway.” Mott still has Derby aspirations for Chief Wallabee, who won his career debut about 90 minutes prior to Thunderously here Jan. 10 going seven furlongs. He rallied to a 1 1/2-length decision over the highly regarded The Puma, who came back off the race to finish third in the Sam F. Davis at Tampa Bay Downs. “We’re running a little late with him as well regarding the Derby, but I’ve nominated him to the Fountain of Youth and the Gotham going a mile in New York,” Mott advised. “We’ll have a look at the Fountain of Youth, although it would be quite aggressive to go in there off of just one start. I tried that with Hidden Scroll, and that didn’t work out so well.” Hidden Scroll finished fourth in the 2019 Fountain of Youth. :: Play Gulfstream Park with confidence!
