Debut winner Chalon may run in Landaluce

ARCADIA, Calif. – Chalon beat 2-year-old maiden fillies at Santa Anita on Thursday in a fashion that left trainer Peter Miller eager for a quick turnaround in a stakes.
On Friday, Miller said Chalon is a candidate for the $125,000 Landaluce Stakes at 5 1/2 furlongs on July 9, the first stakes of the year for 2-year-old fillies in Southern California.
“She’s bright and bouncing around this morning,” Miller said. “She was extremely professional.”
Ridden by Tyler Baze, Chalon ($20) led from the start and won her debut in the five-furlong race by 2 1/4 lengths over Unique Bella, the 1-5 favorite.
Chalon is by Dialed In and races for Rockingham Ranch. The filly was purchased for $110,000 at the Barretts March sale of 2-year-olds in training at Del Mar. Miller said the $300,000 Del Mar Debutante on Sept. 3 is a long-term goal.
“She’s trained like a good filly,” he said.
