Debut score points out Conquest Farenheit in Summer Stakes

ETOBICOKE, Ontario – Conquest Farenheit will look to build off his winning debut in Sunday’s Grade 2, $200,000 Summer Stakes over one mile on turf for 2-year-olds at Woodbine. The winner of the race will earn a fees-paid berth in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf at Santa Anita on Nov. 4.
Conquest Farenheit earned a 91 Beyer Speed Figure for his five-length victory over seven furlongs on yielding turf here Aug. 26. Trainer Mark Casse said Conquest Farenheit’s debut race couldn’t have gone better and noted how the seventh-place finisher, Megagray, came back to win last weekend.
“It’s always nice to see horses that he beat come back and run well,” he said. “I think that just legitimizes his number.”
Casse said Conquest Farenheit has been doing well since his first start.
“He’s been training very well,” he said. “He worked in 59 [seconds] the other day. He’s a very nice horse.”
Casse also has entered Conquest Sure Shot, who finished second to fellow Summer Stakes entrant Tiz a Slam in the prep for this event at seven furlongs Aug. 28. Conquest Sure Shot won a maiden race with a strong rally over 1 1/16 miles at Saratoga.
“He barely got up going a mile and a sixteenth at Saratoga,” Casse said. “I knew seven-eighths of a mile was going to be a little short for him, but I also know that if you can do it, a race over that turf course is always beneficial.”
