Trainer Ray Handal is in the enviable position of having multiple maiden-winning 3-year-old fillies for whom to find spots. On Sunday, Just Read It won a maiden race by 6 1/4 lengths. She had been working several times with Dealing Justice, who won her maiden Jan. 10 and is scheduled to run in Sunday’s $100,000 Ruthless Stakes for 3-year-old fillies at seven furlongs at Aqueduct. Dealing Justice, a daughter of Constitution, finished in a dead heat for third behind Miss Brazil on Nov. 29 before coming back to win her maiden next out by a length. Dealing Justice will likely have to face Miss Brazil again Sunday. Speaking of Dealing Justice’s debut race, Handal said “It wasn’t ideal being on a horse’s flank in between horses with a horse moving up on her outside while also chasing the filly that ended up being the winner. She gained a lot and she moved up second time out.” :: Start earning weekly cashback on your wagering today. Click to learn more. Handal said he hopes Dealing Justice runs well enough to consider running back in the $250,000 Busher Invitational here March 6. Just Read It could run in an allowance race here or head to Turfway Park for the Cincinnati Trophy Stakes on Feb. 26. Handal has a 10-horse string at Turfway this winter. Meanwhile, Handal also has a pair of New York-bred 3-year-old fillies he will try to keep apart. Irish Constitution, unraced since getting beat a nose in the Joseph A. Gimma at Belmont last October, is targeting the Maddie May Stakes here Feb. 20. Rossa Veloce, fourth in the Franklin Square Stakes on Jan. 16, is in the middle of a 30-day break.
