Deal struck to purchase Vernon Downs

Three Standardbred owners - Sanford Goldfarb, Eric

Cherry, and Steven Goldberg - have reached an

agreement to buy Vernon Downs, the struggling harness

track in upstate New York, for $9 million, from

Mid-State Raceway, the track's parent company. The

sale is subject to the approval of the New York State

Racing and Wagering board.
