LOS ALAMITOS, Calif. - LD Fire and Streakin Laquinta finished in a dead heat for first in Saturday's $1 million Ed Burke Million Futurity, the first leg of Los Alamitos's three seven-figure Quarter Horse futurities.\nLD Fire ($3) and Streakin Laquinta ($7) ran 350 yards in 17.34 seconds, finishing three-quarters of a length in front of Three Times the Toll in the field of 10.\nLD Fire, the 7-5 favorite, broke poorly, to her outside, but recovered to race within a length of early leader Streakin Laquinta. LD Fire was within a neck of Streakin Laquinta midway through the race, and finished on even terms.\nLD Fire was ridden by Alejandro Luna for trainer Jaime Gomez. Streakin Laquinta was ridden by Eddie Garcia for Pazazz Quarterhorses and trainer Connie Hall. The win was worth $283,200 to both horses.\nThe track has two seven-figure futurities in the fall - the Golden State Million in November and the Los Alamitos Two Million in December.\nFreaky breaks own track record in Vessels\nFreaky lowered his own track record for 400 yards with an easy win in Friday's $150,000 Vessels Maturity. Freaky was timed in 19.17 seconds in the time trials on May 30, and ran 19.15 seconds in the final.\nIt was the third time this year that Freaky has set a track record at Los Alamitos. He holds the 350-yard mark of 17.14 seconds set on March 19.\nRidden by Francisco Rubio, Freaky won the Vessels Maturity by 1 1/2 lengths over A Mere Splash. Owned by Armando Aguirre and trained by Adan Farias, Freaky, a 4-year-old gelding, earned an automatic berth to the $700,000 Champion of Champions at Los Alamitos on Dec. 12.
