De Paulo has two for Victorian Queen Stakes

ETOBICOKE, Ontario – Trainer Mike De Paulo should make some noise Saturday at Woodbine in the $125,000 Victorian Queen Stakes, a sprint for Ontario-sired 2-year-old fillies in which he’ll run two daughters of Silent Name – Mega Monster and Silent Sinner.

Mega Monster won her 4 1/2-furlong debut June 17 but has been idle since finishing a troubled second in the 5 1/2-furlong Shady Well Stakes on July 23.

“She did something to her shoulder,” De Paulo said. “We couldn’t really pinpoint it. I sent her out for [testing], and everything was clean. We gave her a little time and rebooted her. She’s training well.”

Silent Sinner also is returning from a layoff that began after she captured her Aug. 18 debut in front-running style going five furlongs.

“She’s done nothing wrong,” De Paulo said. “We’ve been waiting on this race. I don’t think she has to go to the lead. That day, I think she broke good, and off she went. She’d been training pretty good, and I thought she’d run good.”

A field of nine was entered for the Victorian Queen, which covers six furlongs on the Tapeta.

◗ She’s from the same dam as Silent Star, who won the Victoriana Stakes on the grass.

“She’s a pretty filly,” De Paulo said. “She’s a full sister to Silent Star, who did a little bit of everything.”

Line of Vision, by Court Vision
Beyers: 63-52

◗ She’s arguably the one to fear most off a wide-closing third in the $201,000 Muskoka Stakes, a 6 1/2-furlong event for graduates of local yearling sales. She won her only other race in an Ontario-sired maiden special at that distance.

She’s the Berries, by Badge of Silver
Beyers: 65-57-65

◗ She closed outside from three lengths back to land her third start by a nose in a six-furlong maiden special Sept. 1 and has since worked quickly for trainer Brian Lynch.

Rosemere, by Court Vision
Beyers: 63-65

◗ The maiden ran second to the unbeaten Summer Sunday at first asking in the restricted Nandi Stakes. She rallied three wide for second in an open maiden special on turf most recently Aug. 25.

Hatch Gate, by Old Forester
Beyers: 57-54

◗ After graduating at first asking July 28, she faded to fourth after a stalking trip in the Aug. 30 Muskoka.
