Dayton: Trevor Smith pilots 1,000th career winner

Though it was a rainy Thursday evening at Dayton Raceway, it was all sunny skies for Trevor Smith, who scored his 1,000th career driving win.
Smith hit his milestone win aboard Walknaftermidnight - trained by his father, Jeff Smith, who also gave Smith his first career driving opportunity aboard Votto at the Wilmington Fair in 2015. Smith and Walknaftermidnight took command early from post six and led the field through fractions of 26 2/5, 55 2/5 and 1:23 1/5 and a mile time of 1:50 4/5.

The 27-year-old obtained his license in 2015 and since then has recorded six multi-million dollar seasons, his richest coming in 2022 where Smith banked $3,378,548. On his resume, Smith holds a victory in the Kentucky Filly Futurity in 2021 with Katies Lucky Day.
