Dayoutoftheoffice likely to make return in Eight Belles

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Dayoutoftheoffice, still unraced since finishing second in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies here last fall, will run in the seven-furlong Eight Belles on the April 30 Kentucky Oaks undercard, assuming she won’t have enough points to make the 14-horse lineup for the Oaks itself, trainer Tim Hamm said this week.
Dayoutoftheoffice, winner of the Grade 1 Frizette in October, has been breezing on a steady basis at Tampa Bay Downs but was not entered in either of the major Oaks preps this weekend, the Ashland or Fantasy.
“I felt it was a little rushed to make either one,” Hamm said.
Leinster out several months
Leinster, one of the top turf sprinters on the continent, will be sidelined for the next couple of months after exiting his win in the Feb. 13 Gulfstream Turf Sprint “not the way I wanted,” said trainer Rusty Arnold, who had hoped to run the 6-year-old horse last weekend in the Al Quoz in Dubai or in the Shakertown here Saturday.

“We’ll try to make the big fall races with both of them,” he said.
