Davidic Line tries stakes after two strong Beyers in overnights

Davidic Line makes his stakes debut at Parx Racing in Tuesday’s $100,000 Kris Kringle for 3-year-olds and up at a mile and 70 yards.
Co-featured on the program are the $100,000 Mrs. Claus for fillies and mares at seven furlongs and the Blitzen for 3-year-olds and up at six furlongs.
Davidic Line is 2 for 2 since being claimed by Jamie Ness for $20,000 on Sept. 26. He won an entry-level allowance on Nov. 9 with a 98 Beyer Speed Figure and backed that race up with a 92 when capturing a $25,000 starter by 5 3/4 lengths on Dec. 15.
Ness found Davidic Line attractive because “he fit the conditions at Parx.”
He found him more appealing once he got a closer look.
“The first time I worked him, I thought, wow, this horse can run,” Ness said. “The second time, I thought this horse could run a lot.”
Davidic Line won his last two on the lead, but Ness feels he can adapt.
“We’ll play the break,” he said. “He likes to run on the bit. The more you grab him, the better he goes. He’s tactical.”
Trainer Penny Pearce entered Why Why Paul Why and I Am Redeemed. The former was claimed for $30,000 on June 20 and has won 4 of 5 for Pearce, including his last three. He was offered at a Fasig-Tipton Midlantic sale this month and listed as an $88,000 RNA.
“He’s worth more than what they offered,” Pearce said. “He’s just a racehorse.”
I Am Redeemed, winner of the Storm Cat on Aug. 23 at Parx, breaks from the inside after a gate-to-wire victory from the rail over entry-level allowance horses.

“He seems to get the one-hole a lot and he’s used to it,” Pearce added.
Brooklyn Strong, winner of the Grade 2 Remsen in 2020, is expected to withdraw and run in the Alex M. Robb at Aqueduct on New Year’s Eve.
Rock On Luke defeated four of these in the M.P. Ballezzi Appreciation Mile on Oct. 12. He then finished second to classy Magic Michael in a salty allowance on Nov. 16.
Graded winners Senior Investment and Informative, as well as Someday Jones, Bird King, and Amatteroftime also entered. Everett’s Song is cross-entered at Laurel on Sunday.
Mrs. Claus
The last time Don’t Call Me Mary shipped to Parx, she snapped Chub Wagon’s eight-race undefeated streak. She returns Tuesday as the likely favorite in the Mrs. Claus.
After finishing fourth in the Grade 2 Gallant Bloom, Don’t Call Me Mary scored a popular allowance victory at Laurel.
Miss Mosaic, cross-entered on Sunday at Laurel, is expected to run here, according to trainer Ben Colebrook.
“I think the pace scenario might be better at Parx,” Colebrook said.
Miss Mosaic has faced the likes of Center Aisle, Bell’s the One, and Sconsin and should appreciate class relief.
Truth Hurts, third in the Grade 3 Go for Wand on Dec. 4, cuts back a furlong.
“I believe she’s a nice horse,” trainer Chad Summers said. “She’s honest, but she’s just a bit on the smaller side.”
Jakarta and Kaylasaurus also cross-entered at Laurel.
Blitzen
Repo Rocks paired up 88 Beyers in his last two wins and seems a solid fit in the Blitzen despite making his stakes debut.
Borracho, purchased by Ness for $45,000 at the December Midlantic auction, returns from a September layoff.
“From what I heard, he was ready to run when they had him at the sale,” Ness said. “He had a foot abscess, so he’s been off a while.”
Battle Station, Dreams Untold, Fortheluvofbourbon, Smooth B, and War Tocsin also bring strong credentials.
