Darley to hold online auction for seasons to European stallions

Darley will hold two online auctions for individual seasons to six of its European stallions for the 2014 breeding season.

The European auction has been added to the international breeding operation’s repertoire following success with similar auctions for seasons to its stallions in both the U.S. and Australia.

"We are thrilled to extend our online auctions of nominations initiative to Europe. The idea was very well received by our clients in both America and Australia where we held online auctions earlier this year,” director of stallions Sam Bullard said in a release. "The beauty of these online auctions is that they give breeders another opportunity to buy nominations to these popular stallions. [It provides] guaranteed access at a price determined by them.

“If any of our clients have already signed a 2014 contract for one of these stallions, it is important they still participate,” Bullard added. “If they are the successful bidders in the online auction on a stallion to which they already hold a 2014 contract, we will amend their contract should they be fortunate enough to buy it in the auction for a lower price."

Stallions with seasons included in the auctions are Exceed And Excel, Farhh, Iffraaj, New Approach, Reckless Abandon and Teofilo. The first auction begins on Dec. 11, and the second begins Dec. 18, with bidding taking place via the Darley website.

All seasons will be sold with no reserve, and Oct. 1 live foal terms.
