Daredevil returning from Turkey to stand at Lane's End in 2021

Barbara D. Livingston Daredevil is being pointed for the Hall of Fame Stakes on turf Aug. 7.

Daredevil, the sire of Kentucky Oaks winner Shedaresthedevil and Preakness Stakes winner Swiss Skydiver from his first crop, will be repatriated from Turkey to stand at Lane's End Farm in 2021. The farm announced the news while also revealing its 21-stallion roster and stud fees for next season.

Daredevil, a Grade 1-winning juvenile by More Than Ready, stood alongside his sire at WinStar Farm for the first four years of his stud career. Late last year, the young stallion was purchased by the Turkish Jockey Club, which was bullish in the North American market in acquiring new stallions and mares to support them.

While Daredevil was standing his single season in Turkey, his stock back in his native country skyrocketed, leading to speculation about farms bidding to return him. Millionaires Shedaresthedevil and Swiss Skydiver swept the top two spots in the Kentucky Oaks before the latter went on to outgame Kentucky Derby winner Authentic in the Preakness. The young stallion also has sired stakes winners Deviant and Esplanande and two other stakes-placed runners.

Daredevil will continue his career at Lane's End as the property of the Turkish Jockey Club.

“We are extremely honored that the Jockey Club of Turkey is entrusting us with the continuation of Daredevil's stallion career in America," Bill Farish of Lane's End said in a press release. “What he has accomplished is nothing short of remarkable. I would like to personally thank [Turkish-born trainer and breeder] Murat Sancal for his ongoing efforts, the board members of the Turkish Jockey Club, and especially the president, Mr. Serdal Adali. This is the beginning of a very fruitful relationship with them, and we are very grateful.”

Daredevil is in quarantine in preparation for his departure to Kentucky. He will arrive at Lane’s End near the end of November.

The Lane's End roster for 2021, which is led by standouts Quality Road at $150,000 and Candy Ride at $75,000, features three other newcomers in Eclipse Award champion Game Winner and Grade 1 winners Gift Box and Honor A. P.
