Danzatrice gets feel for Belmont surface

ELMONT, N.Y. – Trainer Cal Lynch is seriously considering running his stakes-winning 3-year-old filly Danzatrice in the Grade 1 Acorn Stakes on the Belmont Stakes undercard June 6.
How serious?
On Thursday, he vanned Danzatrice and stablemate Surfing U S A from Parx in Bensalem, Pa., to Belmont to have Danzatrice work over the main track. After watching Danzatrice breeze a mile in 1:48, Lynch said she most likely will run in the Acorn.
“I brought her up here to see how she would handle the track, and she did everything really well today,” Lynch said. “So, we’re quite pleased.”
Lynch said Danzatrice went her first half-mile in 58 seconds and her last half in 50. Daily Racing Form caught her last five furlongs in 1:04.
Danzatrice, a daughter of Dunkirk owned by Gainesway Stable, is 3 for 4 and is coming off a 4 1/4-length victory in the Parx Oaks on May 2.
In the Acorn, she is expected to face Promise Me Silver, Condo Commando, Birdatthewire, Curlina, and Bar of Gold.
