ETOBICOKE, Ontario – The improving Dancing Doll makes her stakes debut against just four other 2-year-old fillies in Sunday’s $100,000 Glorious Song at Woodbine.

Dancing Doll has started five times for trainer Nick Nosowenko, all in maiden special weight company. She got two months off after fading in her June 30 debut and was third and then second in her two September outings.

Dancing Doll closed for second two starts back on Oct. 6, and then graduated convincingly in front-running style in a six-furlong event Oct. 21.

“We were taking our time with her, and all of a sudden, she started to figure things out,” Nosowenko said. “I think she probably should have won her second-last start going five-eighths. She got in trouble on the turn and came running down the lane. Since that race, she’s had a growth spurt, lengthened out, and has really packed on some muscle. In her last start, she put it all together and drew off. She’s come back better than ever.”

Trainer Mark Casse, who has won the Glorious Song a record seven times, entered Devious Charm, Si Si Tequila, and Souper Charlotte in the seven-furlong race.

KEY CONTENDERS

Dancing Doll, by Artie Schiller
Last 3 Beyers: 66-68-62

◗ Nosowenko has never won a stakes, but he sent out Cooler Mike to finish third in this year’s Queen’s Plate. He believes that the longer distance won’t be a problem for the James Perron Racing Stable homebred who appears to be thriving in the cooler weather.

“She looks like a million dollars right now,” Nosowenko said. “Her coat’s perfect. It’s time to step up and test the waters.”

Devious Charm, by Into Mischief
Last 3 Beyers: 68-68-44

◗ After coming close to earning her diploma at Saratoga, she traveled to Kentucky Downs, where she led throughout a 6 1/2-furlong maiden special with a fat $135,000 purse on Sept. 1. She has worked twice over the Tapeta, including a half-mile in 48.20 seconds last Sunday.

Si Si Tequila, by Yes It’s True
Last 3 Beyers: 62-72-56

◗ She graduated third time out by five lengths in front-running fashion with a 75 Beyer on July 21 and is coming off an allowance score going 6 1/2 furlongs in her sixth appearance.

Souper Charlotte, by Warrior’s Reward
Beyer: 73

◗ She’s going on Lasix after benefiting from an inside bias in a gate-to-wire debut victory in a six-furlong maiden special. The $325,000 yearling purchase is from the family of Canadian champion 2-year-old filly Silken Cat.

Above All Names, by Skipshot
Last 3 Beyers: 60-51-42

◗ Owned and trained by Bonnie Eshelman, she’s turning back off a maiden special score under Eshelman’s daughter, Skye Chernetz.
