Dancing Buck could be supplemented to Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint

Dancing Buck, the five-length winner of Saturday’s Grade 3, $200,000 Belmont Turf Sprint at Aqueduct, could be supplemented to the $1 million Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint for a fee of $100,000, part-owner Thomas Newkirk said Sunday.
“If the horse comes out of the race healthy and in good shape and Michelle says he can be competitive then we’ll probably go,” said Newkirk, part of the J and N Stables that co-owns Dancing Buck with Diamond Stable.
Newkirk was referring to Michelle Nevin, the trainer of Dancing Buck. The victory in the Belmont Turf Sprint was the third win from his last four starts for Dancing Buck, a New York-bred gelding by War Dancer. His lone loss during that span was a nose defeat to Thin White Duke in the Lucky Coin Stakes at Saratoga.
“It’s been great this year how he’s really held onto his form,” Nevin said. “He’s really improved race to race. He’s always been an honest horse, this year he’s really come forward.”
Dancing Buck earned a career-best 103 Beyer Speed Figure in the Turf Sprint.
