Damson still unbeaten

Damson maintained her unbeaten record at the expense of colts while One Cool Cat returned to form in a sprint at The Curragh on Sunday.

The $368,000 Group 1 Phoenix Stakes fell to the odds-on filly Damson, who defeated Oratorio by three-quarters of a length, getting the six furlongs in 1:13.29 on good to firm ground. Trained by David Wachman, Damson will face her own sex in either the Moyglare Stud Stakes at The Curragh on Sept. 5 or the Cheveley Park Stakes at Newmarket on Sept. 30.

One Cool Cat, the Irish champion juvenile last year, came from last to first to take the six-furlong Group 3 Phoenix Sprint Stakes by 1 3/4 lengths in 1:12.74.
